You can only upload photos which are less than 100KB in size to your adverts. If your photos are larger than this they won't be uploaded. You can check the size of your photo by opening the folder containing your picture, and then right-clicking on it. Select 'Properties' - the size of your picture will be shown.
Remember 1MB = 1000KB. To make large pictures suitable for uploading you will need to resize or compress them. You can compress them with your usual Photo Editing software. Alternatively, if you are running Windows XP you can download an image resizer from Microsoft. To do this follow the steps below:-
1) Click on this link to access the download from Microsoft Click Here To Download 2) Select 'Run' and then 'Run' again. The installation process will start. Follow the on screen prompts. Keep clickng next until you get the option to select to install. 3) Once installed you will have a new 'Resize Pictures' option when you right-click on an image within a folder. 4) To use this resize option when uploading images in the auction listing do the following. Click the Browse button to open a folder. Locate your image (you may find it easier to change to a Thumbnail view). Once you have located the image, right-click on it. By selecting the 'Resize Pictures' option you will then be given the option to resize. Select 'Small' and then click 'OK'. The picture will be resaved to the same directory in a smaller format. The filename of the smaller picture will have '(small)' in it.

If you wish to enhance your free auction listing to get it noticed, you can select some additional paid listing options. If you choose to enhance your listing, you can pay the extra fee securely on-line using your credit card through PayPal (you do not need a PayPal account). If you do have a PayPal account you can pay through that if you wish.
To buy an item on InternetBid.co.uk is completely free. You have additional features like watching items, and entering keywords for items you are looking for to get automated alerts when the items you are looking for are posted on the site. You can also post a free wanted ad for an item you are looking for.
Registration is simple, quick and free and only takes a matter minutes. To start the signup process, click on the “register” link at the top of this page.
Only users aged 18 years or older are permitted to register. The next step is to fill in your registration information. If you miss out any required information the system will prompt you to enter it after you submit the form.
The e-mail address you enter must be unique. Different users on InternetBid.co.uk can not share the same e-mail address. Once you have entered all the required information, including a username & password, you must then type the code displayed as an additional security check.
By clicking on the “Register” button on the bottom of the form you agree to the Terms of Service for using the site. You will then be redirected to a confirmation page saying that your details have been submitted to the database, and to check the automated e-mail sent to you. You will need to open the automated e-mail sent to you to activate your account, by clicking on the activation link. You will then get a confirmation page saying that your account has been activated, and that you can now log-on using your username and password. Click on the Login option at the top of the screen to proceed.
Once you have registered for an account, you will be able to sell items through the site. If you wish the buyer to pay you using a direct payment method (such as PayPal) you must first update your member profile with your direct payment details.
LOGIN to your members area and go to 'Manage Account' in the 'My Account' section. Here you can enter your direct payment details in the section headed ‘Direct Payment Settings’. For example, enter your PayPal e-mail address. By entering your direct payment details here will enable these direct payment methods to be selected in your auction listing.
To sell an item click on the “SELL” link at the top of the page. If you are not already logged on to the system, you will be asked to log on using the username and password you specified during registration. You will then be taken to the auction set-up screens.
Firstly you must select a category and sub-categories for your item. You must keep selecting lower level sub-categories until no more are available. You will then be able to proceed to the next screen by clicking ‘Next Step’. You will then be given the option of listing your item in a second category. This can increase the chances of selling your item. If you do not wish to choose a second category, click the next step link. You will then be able to enter your item details.
Select ‘Full Listing’, and type your item name, and your item description. Please make the item description as informative and accurate as possible. Please describe whether the item has any damage or flaws. You should also specify whether the item is new or second hand.
Click the ‘Next Step’ button at the bottom of the page, and you will be taken to the Auction Settings screen. Here you can select the auction type, the starting price, the reserve and other auction options. Some extra auction listing features incur a small fee. These extra fees are listed clearly next to the feature. If you want a free listing don’t select any extra chargeable options. You can specify a ‘buy now’ option and price, if you want bidders to be able to immediately buy your items.
You are allowed to upload upto 4 pictures for your item. Click on the ‘Browse’ button to browse your computer for the image you wish to upload. The image can not be any larger than 100KB. If your image is larger than this you must re-save it as a smaller file using your regular photo editing software. Once you have selected the required options, and uploaded a picture(s) you can press the ‘Next Step’ button at the bottom of the page.
You will then be taken to the Shipping & Payment screen. Here you can specify who pays for shipping and how you want the buyer to pay you. There are a number of ‘Direct Payment’ options listed. If you have enabled direct payment methods in your member profile (details section) you will be able to select one or more of these. If you also allow other non-direct payment methods, such as cheques, postal orders etc. please select these as well. On this screen you can list the postage and insurance costs applicable, and shipping and payment details.
Under the section ‘Auction Fees’, if you selected any extra chargeable options the fees for these will be listed. If it is a free listing the set-up fee will be shown as 0.00. You will then be taken to an auction preview screen, which will confirm the details of your auction listing. If you need to change anything click the ‘Previous Step’ button. If everything is OK, click the ‘Submit’ button ONCE to submit your auction listing.
To see the items you are selling or that have sold, Login to the system, and go to your members area. Click on the Selling icon. From here you can see your open and closed auctions, and any sold items. At the top of the Sold Items section there is a link to View Sold Item Details. Click this link to see further details of the items you've sold. From here you can access the Message Board through the link to the right of the item. The Message Board should be used for all communication between the seller and the buyer. By clicking on the Message Board link you will see the buyers full contact details, any messages sent and received, and be able to compose new messages to the buyer.
To bid on and buy an item, you must be a registered user of InternetBid.co.uk. See the ‘Registering’ section of the help pages.
To locate items to buy you can either search for the item, or locate it through categories. You can either do a quick search or an advanced search.
For a quick search enter a keyword in the search box at the top of the screen and press the search button. For an advanced search click the search link next to the quick search box.
Once you have found an item you wish to bid on you can do so quickly and easily by following these steps:-
1. Login to your account – If you have not registered you can do so within 5 minutes.
2. Visit the auction page.
3. On auction description page you will see a ‘place bid’ button and an bid entry box.
4. Enter in your bid, note you must bid above the minimum bid required.
5. Click on the “place bid” button.
6. You will then be asked to confirm you bid, once you have done so your bid will be entered, if successful you will receive a confirmation message. If your bid fails to outbid the current high bidder you will be offered the option to place a higher bid.
Proxy bidding can aid your chances of winning an auction and help avoid you being outbid at the last moment. To place a proxy bid enter in the maximum price you are willing to pay for the item. If another user places a bid on the same auction automatic bids will be placed on your behalf in accordance with your maximum bid amount. With proxy bidding you will pay the lowest possible price until someone else places a higher bid.
There is another way of bidding & buying. Buy it now auctions. Buy it now prices are set by the seller, if you agree with that price, you can click on the “Buy Out” button which is displayed on the auction details page. The buy it now option disappears after a bid is placed. After clicking on the button you will be re-directed to a confirmation page. On a standard auction that auction will end instantly as the item has been sold via Buy it now.
On a Dutch auction, you can enter the amount of items you wish to buy (depending the quantity available). If you purchase less than there are available in total, the auction will remain open with the number of items left available after you have purchased the amount you want.
Once you have won an auction you will need to liaise with the seller regarding payment and delivery. If the seller specified a direct payment method, such as PayPal, you can pay for the item on-line. If you bought an item using ‘buy it now’ you will be immediately given the option to pay for the item using a direct payment method (if specified by the seller).
To view items that you have purchased, log-in to the system, and go to your members area. Select the ‘Bidding’ icon to see the items that you are bidding on or have bought/won. In the Items I’ve won section, there is a link to ‘View won item(s) Details’.
Click on this link to see further details of the item, to communicate with the seller, and to pay for the item.
After clicking on this link, you will see an option to pay with direct payment (if this option was given by the seller). Click this link to proceed to pay for the item. The message board link on the right of the item, allows buyers and sellers to communicate all subsequent details of the transaction, including payment (if not direct payment) and delivery. It is strongly recommended that all communication between the buyer and seller is done through the message board. By clicking on the message board link next to an item, you will be able to see the sellers full contact details, any messages sent and received, and be able to compose new messages to the seller.
Once you have successfully logged in you will be redirected to the members area page. From The Member Areas you can select eight different option icons:
1. Bidding. On this page, you will be able to see the items your currently bidding on, as well as the status of the bids, items you have won, and watched items. By clicking on the “Auction Watch” link, you will be able to add keywords for auctions your interested in. An email will be sent to your email address every time an auction that will contain the keyword in its name or description will be submitted. By clicking on the “View won item(s) Details” link from the Items I've Won area, you will be able to see the details of the seller, and make contact with him in order to progress the sale.
2. Selling. There are three areas available on this page. The “Opened Auctions” area, where you will see details of auctions you currently has open; if no bids are submitted yet on an open auction, you are able to edit the auction. The “My Closed Auctions” area, where you will see the auctions submitted, and that are now closed. You can choose to edit, delete or re-list a closed auction. On the “Sold Items” area, you will see the items you have sold, and by clicking on the “View Sold Items Details” link, you will be redirected to a page where you will see the details of the buyer. You can also block a user from bidding on your auctions, and view your auction fees for a given time period.
3. Reputation. From this page, you will be able to see the feedbacks you have received, and leave feedbacks to other users.
4. About Me. Here you can create a simple about me page. If you have a Store on the site this page will be disabled.
5. Wanted Ads. From here you can view opened and closed wanted ads.
6. My Store. From here you can create your own store to list your auction items within your own auction shop.
7. My Account. You can edit your personal information using this page, except for your username. You can also change the password for the account. If the password and confirm password fields are left empty, and then the password will remain the same. You can also enter details of direct payment methods that you accept, for example, PayPal. Also from here you can report abusive users or auction listings to the site administrator.
8. Messaging. From you you can view sent and received messages.
Once a sale has been processed, both the seller and the buyer are able to leave feedbacks for each other. The feedback rating is from one star to five stars, and a feedback comment can also be left. The feedback can be left from the “Reputation” icon in the Members Area. The feedback can only be left once, and it cannot be edited afterwards. The site admin will reserve its right to delete malicious feedback.
The item watch features lets you keep a close eye on any auction without having to place a bid on it. This feature means you can be kept up to date on how an auction is doing and prepares you to place a winning last minute bid. You can watch any auction by clicking on the “Watch this item” link on any auction page.
On a Dutch Auction, the seller has more items of the same product for sale. The bidder will enter a maximum bid he is willing to pay for an item, and the number of items he wants to purchase. The highest bidder(s) will receive the number of items they have bid on, and the remaining bidders will receive the number of items still available. Buyers are able to bid more than once for the same item.
